The SMPDD Workforce Development Department strives to develop and sustain a qualified workforce. Our Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Programs through the Twin Districts Workforce Area (TDWA) provide assistance to businesses and industry, helping them locate, connect and develop their workforce. We offer career development and training services to jobseekers, preparing them to enter in career pathways that require advanced skills and strong wages. TDWA Youth programs administered by SMPDD bring work experience, mentorship, tutoring, and certification opportunities to tomorrow’s workforce. The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) provides volunteer opportunities for those 55 and older wishing to help shape the workforce of tomorrow by serving as a mentor, role model and friend to children who need them most.
